NGR-460 is formulated for use in low to moderately high pressure reciprocating gas compressors compressing wet hydrocarbon gases and CO2. It is also suitable for high pressure dry natural gas, hydrogen, nitrogen and helium gases. For compression of CO2 and wet hydrocarbon gases to pressures greater than 1000 psi, the use of Summit synthetic polyglycol based NGL Series of lubricants is recommended.
Summit's NGR Series are synthetic-based lubricants that offer greater wear protection over petroleum/mineral-based oils for cylinder and packing lubrication. The combination of molecular weight components used in the NGR Series offer advantages that reduce the amount of dilution and cylinder 'wash out' experienced with other competitors' hydrocarbon-based oils. The heaviest molecular weight compounds are still light enough to remain fluid and not contribute to downstream plugging with "asphaltenes" commonly seen with the use of compounded oils used in CO2 and hydrocarbon gas compressors. They offer the same superior corrosion protection against acid gases found in our NGP, PGS and NGL Series of gas compressor lubricants.
Valve life is extended with the use of the NGR Series due to its ability to not form carbon deposits at high discharge temperatures. Its non-fouling tendency also aids in avoiding valve plate "stiction" resulting in longer plate life and greater compressor efficiency.
