In recent years we’ve seen a need for a lubricant to push the traditional boundaries of compressor-oil life and protection. Compressor OEMs have recognized that a Polyalphaolefin (PAO) can handle a wide range of gas compositions without sacrificing the physical properties of a pure synthetic lubricant.
That’s why Summit’s NGSH Series lubricants are PAO-based lubricants designed to extend the service life of compressor components with additives to resist wear, rust, and corrosion.
We’ve made it easy to switch from a mineral oil or R&O lubricant to a PAO-based lubricant by ensuring that our NGSH Series is designed with a lower viscosity. A lower starting viscosity coupled with a higher Viscosity Index means better pumpability and fewer “no-flow” shutdowns at low temperatures.
The NGSH contains a synthetic ester portion that – when compared to straight PAO formulations –provides:
- better wear protection
- lower energy consumption
- less deposit formation in the cylinders/valves
Additionally, the tenacity of NGSH to resist washing off of the cylinder walls in reciprocating compressor applications allows for feed rates to be reduced 10% to 30% for typical applications compared to mineral oils.
